Throughout the year, Members meet on Thursday evenings in order to paint, compare notes, encourage each other, and develop their skills.
Occasionally a recognised professional is invited to convene an all-day workshop to develop specific skills for the Members.
Throughout the summer members gather for plein air painting in locations of scenic interest and in past years have enjoyed weekends away together in Rye, Canterbury, Lewes, Arundel, and Cookham in Berkshire.
At each exhibition a charity raffle is organised, its prize being a painting specially chosen from among those on display. Among the charities which have benefited from this in recent years are the Carshalton-based Medical Engineering Resource Centre (MERU), the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation Brain Injury Centre in Banstead, the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in Sutton, and The Children’s Trust at Tadworth Court.
In 2014 the group also helped to sponsor a painting competition among local schools and identified the worthy prizewinners at our Summer Exhibition.
